Lake Lure Activities
There is so much to do in and around Lake Lure, which is one of
the many reasons that Lake Lure is such a popular vacation and real
estate spot. You can enjoy all that there is to do on the gorgeous
720 acre lake. With over twenty miles of shoreline, you can enjoy a
day at one of the Lake Lure beaches and have lots of fun swimming
and enjoying the lake. Located on the beach is the Lake Lure Beach
Water Works, which is a small water park complete with fun water
games, a small lazy river, and fun water cannons.
A special permit is required if you would like to enjoy boating on
Lake Lure; however you must first get a permit at the Lake Lure town
hall. Pontoons and other boats are allowed on the lake, however
personal watercraft (jet skis) are not allowed. If you would rather
enjoy seeing the lake by taking a scenic boat tour, there are a few
places that offer boat tours and also boat rentals. It’s a wonderful
way to learn more about the lake and enjoy spots that you may not
have known about previously. Lunch, dinner and champagne cruises are
available.
NC fishing is a popular activity on the lake and around the Hickory Nut
Gorge. There are places and opportunities to NC fish for rainbow trout,
brown trout, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, crappie, white
bass, catfish, bluegill, and sun-perch.
There are also two North Carolina golf courses if you wish to hit the greens and
play a round of golf, as well as many wonderful trails and places to
go hiking. A new and popular way to enjoy the scenic trails and see
the mountains is to rent or bring your own all-terrain vehicle to
enjoy. There are a few places to rent ATV’s in the area. Guided
horseback tours are also a great way to get out and see the
NC mountains.
As far as shopping and dining establishments, Lake Lure North
Carolina has a few
restaurants and smaller shopping areas. You can enjoy more shopping
opportunities in larger areas like Asheville and Greenville, South
Carolina.
